Twelve remand prisoners at Nsawam Medium Security Prison have been released on July 24 through the Justice for All programme.
An ad hoc court at the prison discharged one inmate and granted bail to ten others, while two were denied bail.
The prisoners had been held for years without trial for various offenses, including murder.
Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe praised the program and called for diligent investigations to prevent unjust pre-trial detentions.
Stakeholders are also advocating for the Community Service Bill, which would improve prison conditions and reduce state expenditure on prisons.
