Transport consultant Cecil Garbrah has proposed lowering Ghana's legal driving age from 18 to 16, arguing that today's teenagers are more mature and capable than in the past.
Speaking on Joy News' PM Express, he suggested that the law, established in 1996, is outdated and that many countries allow 16-year-olds to drive.
Garbrah emphasized the intelligence and responsibility required for driving, noting his experiences as a driving instructor.
While acknowledging that the current law still mandates an age of 18, he urged a review of this regulation, especially in light of recent accidents involving young drivers.
