Twenty Ghanaian Senior Fire Officers are expected to leave the country on February 17, 2018 for a 10-day intensive firefighting training course in Malta.
The course which is being spearheaded by the Interior Ministry in collaboration with the Honorary Consulate of Malta would build the capacities of the participants to enable them discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.

Read full articlea ceremony to bid the personnel goodbye in Accra Friday, the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery advised the personnel to be good ambassadors of Ghana.
He said, “When you go out there, put up your best and market the image of Ghana because Malta has one of the highest tourist in the world, Maltese travel a lot so market Ghana to them well through your comportment.”
The Minister also urged the officers to return to Ghana after the training and use the skills acquired to ensure the safety of Ghanaians.
He observed that, “We’ve had situations where officers flee camps after the end of the training program. We don’t want any situation like that.”
Mr. Dery reiterated government’s commitment to retooling the various security services in the country to improve operations and help personnel respond to emergencies promptly.
The Honorary Consul of Malta, Jean Claude Galea Mallia also urged the officers to make the most out of the training course, as he said “Knowledge is sought to be shared, learn there’s more to learn and come and impact on your colleagues.”
On his part, Acting Chief Officer, DCOF Edwin Ekow Blankson called for frequent training courses for personnel of the Ghana Fire Service as firefighting involved 95% offensive and 5% defensive firefight attack.
He expressed gratitude to the Interior Ministry and the Malta Consulate for putting together the course for the officers.
