2020 election: Ask God for a leader after His own heart – Pentecost Chairman

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on Ghanaians to use the occasion of Christmas to pray for a peaceful election in 2020 and also ask God to grant Ghana a leader after His own heart.

Quoting from the book of Jeremiah 29:7, Apostle Nyamekye said God entreated the Israelites: “Seek for the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile; pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you, too, will prosper”.

In like manner, Apostle Nyamekye entreated Ghanaians to pray for the peace and prosperity of the nation, for out of her prosperity “we shall also prosper.”

In his Christmas message, Apostle Nyamekye said the holiday season is about peace and, therefore, anyone bearing any grudge against a fellow must make peace with them.

“Christmas is also about peace, for Christ reconciled us back to God; abolishing the enmity between God and man. When He was born, the angel said in Luke 2:14, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favour rests.’ Therefore, if anyone has any grudge against a fellow, it’s time to make peace because Christmas is about peace. We need to extend this peace and reconciliation to our family members and colleagues.”

He added that Christmas is not about merrymaking but it is a time to remember the story of Christ, the Son of God, who brought redemption to mankind.

Apostle Nyamekye advised Ghanaians that as we enter the year 2020, “may we not be apprehensive of what the New Year will bring and may we not allow the setbacks of 2019 weigh us down. Rather, we should use the opportunity God has presented us with to take stock of our lives, correcting the errors of the past and resolving to do things differently in 2020.”
