2024 election: Court injuncts Cynthia Morrison

The Agona Swedru District Court has barred Agona West MP, Cynthia Morrison, from running as an independent candidate in the 2024 election.

The court also restrained the Electoral Commission from processing her nomination until the case is resolved.

This follows a suit by three NDC branch executives in Agona West, who claim Morrison is ineligible to contest as she resides in Agona East.

Morrison, a former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, lost the NPP primary in April 2024 and decided to run independently after serving two terms as an NPP MP.
