215 police recruits at Pwalugu Training School recover from coronavirus

About 215 Police recruits at Pwalugu Police Training School in the Upper East Region who contracted the novel coronavirus have all recovered, officials have confirmed.

The Pwalugu Police Training school was a hot belt for the deadly COVID-19 pandemic because a higher number of cases were recorded there shooting up the recorded figures of the region.

Out of a total case count of 274 in the Upper East region, 215 Police trainees tested positive for the deadly COVID-19.

Disclosing this on ‘Alert’ which airs on Accra-based Starr FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Director-General in charge of Police Welfare Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah said there was relief and excitement at the training school on Monday when for the first time the training facility recorded 100% negative cases after the testing.

“Yesterday, I was at the Pwalugu Police Training School and for the first time, they recorded 100% negative cases in relation to COVID-19. The trainees had a feast to celebrate the feat achieved.”

She indicated that as part of measures to contain the disease, each police officer has been given two reusable face masks and all other safety equipment have been provided across the country to ensure that their men are doing very well.

In all, only two Police officers have died from the disease across the country and these individuals according to Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah died before the Police Administration got to know they were COVID-19 positive.

She also disclosed that all inmates who have been infected by the disease have all recovered from the disease.

Ghana’s case count is currently 17, 741 out of which 13,268 have recovered from the disease.

The death toll of the country currently sits at 112 with 4,361 active cases.
