Aggrieved customers of troubled gold dealership firm, Menzgold have revealed that 23 of their colleagues have died out of frustration as a result of their locked up cash.
The customers who are at a loss as to why it's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Appiah Mensah alias NAM 1 is still in detention want him immediately released in order to begin the process of settling them their indebtedness.
“He was victorious against a company in Dubai and came to his home country only for you people to remand him for two weeks. Do you know what Menzgold has done to us and you are still keeping him in detention? People are sick and others have died…about 23 persons have died”, one of the customers revealed on Class FM.
She added “release NAM 1 immediately come to pay us our money. If it is an attempt to keep him in detention and spend the money, you are courting trouble for yourselves because not all the monies can be spent. We toiled to make that money we have invested with the company.”
NAM 1 on arrival in Ghana was officially been charged by the police and remanded by an Accra Circuit Court to reappear on July 26, 2019.
He is facing charges of defrauding by false pretence and two counts of abetment to carry out banking business without licence, contrary to Section 6 (1) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
Two of his companies—Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold Ghana Limited — represented by him, have each been charged with defrauding by false pretence, contrary to sections 20 (1) and 13 (1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
