Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, Head of the Electoral Commission's Training Department, has clarified that the GH₵0.50 fee for checking voter registration online goes to service providers like MTN and Telecel, not the Electoral Commission (EC).
This fee, consistent since the 2016 and 2020 elections, covers service charges, not EC expenses.
Dr. Quaicoe explained that if the fee were part of the EC's budget, it would be accounted for as EC funds.
The EC's role is to facilitate voter verification at polling stations, while the fee supports online verification services.
