Six Fulani herdsmen are expected to be repatriated after they got arrested by the police in the Asante Akim North municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Their arrest follows the shooting to death of a security guard with Scarnfarm Ghana Limited, allegedly by the nomadic herdsmen.

Even though the six have nothing to do with the killing of the security guard, they are being repatriated while efforts are made to get the perpetrators arrested.

Speaking to Class News, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akim North, Francis Oti Boakye said calm has been restored to the area despite threats of reprisal attacks by some relatives of the deceased.

He promised that the security will do their best to arrest the killers of the security guard.

“We have arrested about six of them and we are working to repatriate them. They are not involved in the killing but they are here without any document. Some of them, they come here and don’t have documents to even show where they are coming from.

“Even if you are from an ECOWAS nation, you have to have documents but these people come without any documents and when we get them, we try to repatriate,” he stated.

Talking about the killers of the security guard, Mr Boakye said: “Those criminals, when we get them the law will deal with them. We are tracing the killers and definitely, we will arrest them.”
