A survey by Groupe Ndoum (GN) Research team has revealed that majority of Ghanaians have lost faith in media houses operating in the country due to what they described as their “preferential treatment” in the coverage of ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), and New Patriotic Party (NPP) activities - to the detriment of other political parties.

According to Edah, sample size of the study was 3000 in 30 randomly selected areas in the Greater Accra Region: “We had a clear 63% response saying media in Ghana gives NDC and NPP the biggest platforms, while the smaller parties have their images tarnished.”
The research expert said the respondents who were within the age range of 18 years and above were of the view that most media houses are used as “propaganda machines” by political parties to push their agenda.
This, in his view, reduces the trust reposed in media platforms to inform the public objectively - thereby shaping the minds of about 77% of Ghanaians who admitted that media reportage is very influential in shaping their views on national issues.
The research also revealed that 44% of Ghanaians are satisfied with television reportage on political issues, 33 % for radio while internet news patronage has 29%.
