95% BECE candidates placed under CSSPS

According to GES, by September 8, 351,000 were placed in SHS out of 519,000 According to GES, by September 8, 351,000 were placed in SHS out of 519,000

Ninety-five percent of candidates who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year have been successfully placed under the Computerized School Selection Placement System (CSSPS).

These candidates were placed under the automatic placement system, self-placement and protocols from the schools.

According to the Head of Communications at the Free SHS Secretariat, Josberta Gyan Kwakye, who disclosed this on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa, the remaining 5% of students yet to be placed will have the opportunity to do self-placement to ensure they are captured by the CSSPS.

She said 519,000 candidates wrote this year’s BECE, but not all were placed.

“We scaled it down and 38,000 did not qualify to be placed under the CSSPS because they might have failed in their various subjects.

“By September 8, when we released the final placements, 351, 000 have successfully been placed,” she explained.

Ms Gyan Kwakye noted that “122,000 could not have any of their selected schools” because they failed in all the subjects.

She said “if a student had Grade 9 in any of the subjects, especially, English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, it means you have failed”.
