News reaching MyNewsGh.com has confirmed that ACP/Dr. Benjamin Agordzo a former Director of Police Operations has been detained in the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) Cells over the alleged Coup Plot.
Dr Benjamin Agordzo who until last week was on UN Mission Mali reported himself to officials of the BNI upon invitation and it is gathered that they were unable to complete interrogation which is why he is expected to spend the night in cells.
He is said to have reported in the company of his lawyers at about 2 pm on Monday, November 4, 2019, but as at 9 pm, there was no sign he would be release confirming what this portal gathered he has been detained.
Efforts by his lawyers to secure bail for him proved futile as operatives reveal that he had questions to answer and therefore need to be put in custody.
MyNewsGh.com sources at the BNI reveal that he is one of three Senior Police Officers who are being questioned in relation to the foiled coup plot which was masterminded by the owner of the Citadel Hospital at Alajo, Dr Mac-Palm.
The conspirators have been jointly charged for conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit, manufacturing of arms and ammunition and possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition without lawful authority.
Kafui and Mac-Palm were slapped with two extra charges — while Kafui faces additional charges of manufacturing six pistols and 22 explosives, Mac-Palm faces a further charge of possessing 22 explosives, six pistols and three hand grenades without lawful authority.
Treason
Dr Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive Officer of the Citadel Hospital and his alleged accomplices were put before the Kaneshie District Court with an additional charge of treason weeks ago.
Together with Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, Geshon Akpa, Warrant Officer Esther, Lance Corporals Seidu Abubakar, Solomon Ali and Sylvester Akankpewu, they are all facing charges ranging from conspiracy to commit treason, treason, conspiracy to possess explosives, arms and ammunition as well as possession of explosives, arms and ammunition without lawful excuse.
