The Attorney General has instructed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to send a law, L.I. 2462, which allows mining in forest reserves, to Parliament for cancellation.

This follows demands from Organized Labor and public concerns over the environmental damage caused by illegal mining (galamsey).

The government has agreed to revoke the law to protect sensitive areas like forest reserves.

Parliament will now decide whether to officially ban all mining activities in these areas, as part of broader efforts to tackle environmental degradation.
