President of the Ghana Journalist Association, Mr. Affail Monney has cited impunity as the leading cause of Ghana’s decline on the league table of free media systems.

According to the GJA president, the inability to bring perpetrators to book creates an atmosphere to increase their activities.
“One thing about impunity is that if it’s not dealt with, it re-ignites and re-energizes perpetrators to do more. When this happens, it makes things difficult to deal with. Impunity also is responsible for the number of attacks on journalists,” he stated.
He has therefore challenged human activists and democracy lovers to help decapitate the canker of impunity in the country.
