Akufo-Addo fell into the same trap of ‘clearing’ appointees – Senanu on Dame’s plaudits

Edem Senanu, Co-chair of Citizens Movement against Corruption has criticized President Akufo-Addo for commending Attorney-General Godfred Dame despite allegations of professional misconduct in the ambulance purchase trial.

The President's praised Dame, a former member of his law firm, undermines the rule of law and due process, Senanu argued.

He believed the President's comments fuelled perceptions of corruption and interference in the justice system, and that he should have remained silent instead of defending Dame.

The High Court judge has recommended Dame recuse himself from the trial due to ethical concerns.
