The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), the regulatory body that sets utility tariffs has announced an 11.17 percent increment in electricity tariff effective July 1, 2019.
Barely four days later, the Commission, said it had approved an 8.01 percent increment in water tariff.
In reaction to this on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Anim Piesie said had Akufo-Addo managed the energy sector well, there would not have been any increment.
"They said when they win power they will not tolerate tariff increment . . . this increment will bring untold hardship to Ghanaians. This government is not doing well in this sector; they are not managing the situation well".
"The sector is highly indebted and it is only government who can tell us what happened. They should come and explain why there is an increment. Government has mismanaged the sector," he stated.
