The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has announced an indefinite strike starting Thursday, September 26, 2024, leading to the closure of all mortuaries nationwide.

The strike is in protest of unmet demands, including salary arrears since 2020, inadequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and the employment of 500 additional workers.

MOWAG is also calling for the payment of the promised COVID-19 bonus.

They blame authorities for inaction and warn that no discussions will take place until their demands are met.

The strike is expected to severely affect mortuary services across Ghana.
