Security expert Adam Bonaa has praised the Ghana Police Service's preparedness to ensure election security, urging that the military should not be involved at polling stations.
Following violent incidents in past elections, including the 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, there has been a shift towards a police-led approach to election security.
Dr. Bonaa commended the current police administration under Inspector General Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for effectively managing recent elections without significant violence.
He emphasized that deploying the military could introduce unnecessary risks and that the police are better equipped to handle election safety, reserving military involvement for high-security situations only.
