The separatist group that declared independence for Western Togoland over the weekend has been slammed by social media users who believe their actions were uncalled for.
According to them, the ‘already dying’ old man who happens to be the leader of the group, wants to create confusion in the country.
This follows an independence declaration by Charles Kudzordzi

“This is total rubbish. It is going to impede development because it can’t be materialised. They need to be punished severely. Majority of us don’t support this. I will never and ever support this. That lifeless old man is causing a great confusion”, a tweep posted.
They were, however, wondering why the Regional Police Commander and his team did not take action against them on Saturday.
Over the weekend, the Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) declared independence for the Volta, and parts of the Northern, North Eastern and Upper East Regions.
The event, which took place at the former premises of the Unity Rural Bank, a 100 metres away from the HO Police Training School was broadcasted live on Facebook.
HSGF had over the years been demanding the secession of the above-mentioned areas from Ghana to become the Western Togoland state.
In May 2019, some members of the group were arrested by the police and charged with conspiracy to commit treason felony, abetment of unlawful training, unlawful assembly and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.
Twitter has since been awash with castigations against the group, with particular focus on its leader, who is in his 80’s.
