The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region has accused Hohoe MP John Peter Amewu of delaying the court case challenging his 2020 election victory.
Around 17,000 voters from the Santrofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) enclave did not vote in the parliamentary elections due to regional changes. Five SALL residents petitioned the High Court to nullify Amewu's election.
Amewu recently introduced three new issues, which the NDC claims is a delay tactic. NDC Volta Regional Secretary James Gunu criticized this move, urging a swift court decision.
Amewu's lawyer, Benedict Kofitse, denies intentional delays, stating they are following court rules.
