Anator Holding stalls judgement on Woyome’s GHC20m properties

A Supreme Court has declared June 27 as final ruling for the case involving the confiscation and sale of properties by the State belonging to embattled business man, Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

The properties are estimated to sum up to GHC 20 million and according to the State, the sale of those properties forms part of processes to retrieve the GH¢51.2

The properties said to be owned by Alfred Woyome include two executive buildings located at Trassaco in Accra, the office complex of Anator Holdings at East Legon, a company owned by Mr. Woyome, two residential buildings at New Town and Abelempke, both suburbs in Accra as well as a mining quarry owned by the judgement debtor in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Defunct UT Bank, however, claimed ownership of some of the properties identified by the State instigating that the said properties were used as collateral for loans at the bank by Woyome which he failed to pay back.

Meanwhile, Anator Holdings also prayed the court to prevent the A-G from adding the quarry to the list of the businessman’s properties earmarked for sale by the state.

The company filed a case at the apex court arguing that the quarry belongs to it and not Mr. Woyome.



However, the State represented by the Deputy Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame maintained that the properties belonged to Alfred Woyome with evidences that Anator Holdings Company was a major beneficiary of the GHc 51 million cedis judgment.

The court, presided over by a single judge, Justice Anthony A Benin, met the parties involved in camera and was supposed to have delivered judgment on the case today but information at the registry of the Court said judgement involving UT Bank was ready while that of Anator Holding was not.

Thus the ruling had to be deferred to June 27, 2019 for a mutual decision.

Deputy Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, who refused to give any further details to the media seems to have been disappointed at the postponement.
