The anti-galamsey task force, Operation Halt, has intensified efforts to curb illegal mining by destroying critical equipment used on Ghana's river bodies.
Recently, the team dismantled 10 Changfans, a pistol, and eight water-pumping machines on the Pra River in the Central Region.
This followed the destruction of 30 pieces of mining equipment on the Birim River in the Eastern Region.
Colonel Eric Tenadu, Commander of Operation Halt, highlighted the strategic approach to outmaneuver illegal miners.
The two-week operation will target major rivers like the Pra, Birim, and Ankobra.
Environmental groups have praised the initiative, though they stress the need for long-term solutions.
