Asante Akyem: Chief speaks on viral video of mourners carrying corpse

Chief Nana Kofi Asare Bediako of Akutuase has clarified that a viral video showing mourners mishandling a corpse is over five years old.

He condemned the act, which sparked outrage among Ghanaians. The community has since banned laying dead bodies in public spaces to prevent similar incidents.

The chief called for the arrest of those recirculating the video, while the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA) also condemned the act as disrespectful and undignified.

The video showed a youth group carrying a corpse without a coffin, prompting calls for action to prevent such incidents.
