Asantehene is only leader showing the way against galamsey – Ken Ashigbey

Dr. Ken Ashigbey, founder of the Media Coalition Against Illegal Mining, has commended Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his strong stance against illegal mining, known as galamsey.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Dr. Ashigbey praised the Asantehene for holding traditional leaders accountable, citing his punishment of three chiefs involved in galamsey.

He contrasted this decisive action with what he views as a lackluster government response, urging other leaders to follow Otumfuo's example.

Dr. Ashigbey called for a united national effort, including political leaders and civil society, to combat illegal mining and protect the environment.
