Auditor-General’s report: We don’t prepare unwholesome food for pupils – Caterers

Caterers under the School Feeding Programme in the Ashanti region have denied allegations from a recent Auditor-General’s report accusing them of overpayment and using rotten ingredients.

The report claims overpayments of GH¢2.3 million from 2017 to 2022 and the preparation of unwholesome food.

At a news conference in Kumasi, caterers insisted the report is inaccurate and emphasized their commitment to providing healthy meals despite inadequate funding.

They refuted claims of overpayment, stating they are actually owed arrears.

The caterers urged for a new investigation and appealed for support from NGOs and philanthropists to enhance the program’s quality.
