Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, has requested that the Bank of Ghana (BoG) provide information on its 2023 financial statement and rising costs of its head office within a week, citing the Right to Information Act.
The BoG reported a GH₵10.5 billion loss in 2023, attributed to increased interest expenses.
Ayariga seeks details on write-offs, combined losses, and escalating expenses on the new head office building, which has raised concerns.
He also requested for reasons for the high policy rate and currency issuance expenses.
The request comes after documents showed the head office project cost increased from $82m to $250m.
