Voting in the District Assembly elections is currently underway in all the 12 constituencies in the Bono region.

909 persons are contesting in the District Assembly elections with 1,725 contesting in the unit committee elections in the region.

In the Sunyani Municipality, some 106,415 registered voters are expected to cast their ballot in the on-going District Assembly in all 185 polling stations.

In all, 111 candidates made up of 103 males and 8 females are contesting for slots to represent the 34 electoral areas.

Voting started at exactly 7:00 am but the voter turnout at most of the centres was generally low as many of the voting centres were virtually empty.

As at 8:00 am, three out of the four polling centres on the campus of the Sunyani Technical University (STU) with a registered voter population of 2,106 had recorded just a single vote.

The situation at Yawhimakrom,Akokorakwadwo, Baakoniaba and Nkwabeng electoral areas were not different either.

The situation at Jaman South Municipality however looked a bit encouraging. 22 out 561 registered voters had voted at the Gonasua Upper Primary B polling Station as at 8:20 am with some 16 voters also casting their votes at the KBK R/C Primary polling station.
