The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has informed Parliament that the Finance Ministry has released 80 million Ghana Cedis to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
This announcement follows concerns raised by MP Yusif Sulemana about the government's debt to WAEC.
Initially, WAEC received only GH₵2.3 million of the required GH₵95.83 million, risking the scheduled exams from July 8 to July 15, 2024.
Despite earlier concerns from WAEC's John Kapi about funding delays, Annoh-Dompreh confirmed the release after verifying with Minister Abena Osei Asare.
