BECE: Nine arrested for exam malpractices

Nine individuals, including seven teachers, have been arrested for examination malpractices during the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Ghana.

The arrests occurred in various locations, including Bekwai in the Ashanti Region and Tema in the Greater Accra Region. Despite concerns about exam malpractices, the examination began peacefully on July 8.

John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at the West African Examination Council (WAEC), confirmed the arrests and assured that WAEC is working with stakeholders to enhance security.

The arrested teachers will be reported to the Ghana Education Service for disciplinary action.
