Eight travelers were killed on the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway near Gbimsi when armed men blocked the road and opened fire.
The attackers, believed to be linked to the ongoing Bawku Conflict, set up roadblocks in Gbimsi and Walewale, targeting passengers.
A survivor described the horror, saying the assault lasted over an hour without any security response.
The Ghana Police Service has since pledged to increase security along the highway, deploying joint Police and Military units to restore safety and monitor traffic, especially in Bawku and nearby areas.
