Be committed to addressing CETAG’s unpaid allowances – NUGS to government

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has called on government to exercise full commitment on the agreement they have made with the College of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) over their unpaid allowances.

CETAG and government earlier this week agreed on a roadmap to resolve the grievances of the teacher association.

Reacting to the issue, President of NUGS Tinakaro Asare Osei in a press statement commended both CETAG and government on the reconciliatory roadmap to address the unpaid allowances.

According to NUGS, they are “enthused about the actions taken by the Government and the College of Education Teachers Association (CETAG) over issues with allowances that led to a month's closure of all the Colleges of Education in the country”.

However, they issued a warning to government stating that “NUGS calls on Government to exercise full commitment to this agreement and that the Union will not countenance any disappointment on the part of the Government” and further called on CETAG to honour their part of the negotiations.

“We further call on the students of the Colleges of Education to also exhibit good morals and take their studies serious to help build their future to be able to help mother Ghana in the future”, NUGS added.
