Professor Isaac Boadi, Dean of Accounting and Finance at UPSA, has refuted John Dramani Mahama’s claim that the Akufo-Addo government borrowed GHC42 billion from the Bank of Ghana.
Speaking at the ABC News Economic Symposium on November 5, 2024, Professor Boadi clarified that the GHC42 billion represents total support from the Bank of Ghana to various governments since 2014, not a loan from the central bank.
He explained that in 2022, the government received GHC5.328 billion to address a liquidity crisis, emphasizing that this was necessary to stabilize the economy during a challenging period.
