Bono gas station fire incident destroys storey building, 3 vehicles

A gas filling station in Asufufu, Bono Region, caught fire on Wednesday which destroyed a nearby residential building with 10 bedrooms and three vehicles, including a gas tanker.

The fire started when a taxi cab caught fire while being filled with fuel. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) intervened swiftly and controlled the fire after three hours.

The GNFS and National Petroleum Authority (NPA) are investigating the incident, citing potential safety protocol violations.

The NPA has warned of sanctions for non-compliance with safety measures during fueling and discharging processes.
