Mr Alex Kurankye, father of Mantebea Kurankye one of the four dead girls in Takoradi has told MyNewsGh.com in an exclusive interview that the Director-General of Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs) treated them like her own family.
“She was always in touch, sent me money for my upkeep and the brother of the deceased, gave us encouragement when we were down as though we were her family. We usually prayed together not forgetting the countless personal visits”, he revealed.
Revealing how pained he is over the incessant attacks on the person of the CID Boss, he said “those who do not know what went on behind the scenes maybe are the ones jumping into conclusions. She has been a pivot during the course of investigations though it is not what we anticipated”
According to him, when news broke out that his 18-year-old daughter was dead the family gathered as believers of Jahovah and shared the word of God based on Genesis 37 excerpts of which reads“He recognized it and said, “It is my son’s robe! Some ferocious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces. Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and mourned for his son many days. All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. “No,” he said, “in mourning will I go down to the grave to my son. So his father wept for him”
A grief-stricken Kurankye added “we are not accusing anyone for the death of Mabena because she left home on her own and never returned”
He prayed for courage for the police to soldier on expressing his utmost appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for calling to check up on them and leaving them with soothing consolatory messages.
