CODEO says it is ready for observation of the 2019 District Level Elections
The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has declared its readiness for observation activities during tomorrows District Level and Unit committee Members elections.
Addressing a media briefing in Accra today December 16, the Acting Co-Chairperson of CODEO, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu said his outfit is ready to observe tomorrow’s electoral activities.

Read full articlethe group launched activities aimed at supporting the District Level Elections and the then pending Referendum to decide whether political parties should be allowed to sponsor candidates to District Assemblies or Lower Local Government Unit, six weeks ago.
He said CODEO has successfully carried out two major interventions in support of the elections. He revealed that through the intervention, CODEO deployed 260 District/Civic/Voter/Peace Educators to promote public awareness in respect of the election.
The Educators, together with some 260 District Directors of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), according the Co-Chairperson of CODEO, worked closely over the past six weeks to deepen public awareness about the elections and the need for them to participate in it.
The work of the Civic Educators was also complemented with multimedia campaigns on traditional and social media.
Sheikh Armiyawo in his address revealed that CODEO will be deploying some 1,100 observers who have over the weeks received training across the country to observe tomorrow’s elections. The observers he said, will be made up of 800 stationary officers and 300 roaming observers on the election day.
He added that CODEO will be hosting a National information Centre at its Secretariat at the CDD-Ghana offices in Accra.
The centre will be the receiving point of information from the observers which will be used to evaluate the success of tomorrow’s electoral process.
CODEO will conduct two reporting events on elections day tomorrow. The report, according to to the Sheikh, will be conducted at midday and at close of polls.
Shiekh Armiyawo ceased the opportunity to call on the media to provide accurate information and education about the elections in an objective and professional manner.
