The chief of Effiduase in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti region, Nana Adu Ameyaw II has charged the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to whip the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effiduase-Asokore and the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area in line or cause them to be removed, MyNewsGh.com reports.
He says a longstanding feud between Hon. Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie and Hon. Mary Boatemaa Marfo has done nothing but impeded the growth and progress of the Effiduase Township and the other towns and villages since the two came into the scheme of things as political leaders in the area.
The legislator and the DCE have both declared publicly that they are at loggerheads, but have failed to mention why they are fighting; not even a crunch meeting with the President at the Jubilee House was been able to calm the tension between the two.
It may be recalled that, MyNewsGh.com reported in October about a purported fisticuff between the two; an incident that marred the President’s scheduled visit to the Effiduase-Asokore Constituency when he toured the Ashanti region.
The DCE, Mary Boatemaa Marfo had alleged that the MP, Nana Ayew Afriyie had “slapped her in the face, pushed her on the ground whilst the Constituency Chairman and other executives looked on”, during a grounds preparation to meet the President at the town square.
But the MP told MyNewsGh.com that, “the female DCE was “stumbled by her high heels and long slit”.
“She was having a brawl with one David over the keys to a school bus belonging to AMASS and because it had rained, she got tripped by her high heels and long slit; I was standing nearby but nobody can say I touched her”, Ayew said.
Addressing a press conference covered by MyNewsGh.com at his palace on the dogfight between the two, the Effiduasehene said his people has seen no development since the two started to fight over “God knows what”.
“The road project has stalled; the DCE has refused to sign the scholarship forms for 10 tertiary students under the MP’s Common Fund and she is nowhere to be found”, Nana Adu Ameyaw II said.
He said he has personally walked to the office of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah to complain to him, but has seen no change, leaving him with no option than to invite the President into the matter.
“If they cannot exist in peace, they must be removed”, he diagnosed.
It may be recalled that, at the behest of the Paramount Chief of the Effiduase-Asokore Traditional Area, Nana Dr. Susubiribi Krobea Asante, the traditional council at a press conference called on the president to remove Madam Boatemaa Marfo in April.
The NPP youth wing in the Effiduase Asokore Constituency also called for her head.
It is not clear what has caused the feud between the MP and the DCE, but Nana Ayew Afriyie has said, Mary Boatemaa Marfo has been “surrounded by scandals”.
