Canadians Kidnapping: Five Ghanaians, three Nigerians arrested - Information Minister

Eight suspects have so far been arrested for the kidnapping of the two Canadian ladies, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has officially announced.

The women, who went missing a few days ago, were found in the early hours of Wednesday June 12, 2018 at Kanyasi in Kumasi.

However, there were a series of gunshot exchanges between the suspects and the security team.

One suspect sustained minor injuries as a result of the shootout.

In all, the rescuing exercise took 25 minutes.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah maintained that “no foreign assets were involved in the operation” despite rumours that government and the police received satellite information from the Canadian government.

He disclosed that the victims are currently in Accra and undergoing evaluations at the Canadian Embassy.
