Cancer patients at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital face delays and suspended appointments due to the hospital's overburdened and frequently breaking down radiotherapy machine.
Despite recent repairs, the machine operates at reduced capacity, limiting treatments to just 10 sessions per day. Eight-year-old Joshua, undergoing his 33rd session, expressed his pain and appealed to Former President John Mahama for financial help.
Many patients await scheduling as appointments for those needing more than six sessions are on hold. Professor Joel Yarney, head of the Oncology Department, highlighted the machine's issues and the need for attention to cancer treatment.
The Minority in Parliament urged Health Minister Dr. Bernard Oko Boye to address the hospital’s reliance on a single, failing machine.
