The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, along with other religious and professional groups, will lead an Environmental Prayer Protest Walk Against Galamsey on Friday, October 11, 2024.

The protest aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of illegal mining (galamsey) and urge the government to declare a state of emergency on mining activities near water bodies and forests.

Starting at 10:00 am from Holy Spirit Cathedral, participants will march through Accra, ending at Christ the King Parish.

A petition will also be delivered to President Akufo-Addo, calling for immediate action to protect Ghana's environment.
