The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra organized a protest walk today, October 11, 2024, against illegal mining (galamsey) after a "Service of Preparation" at the Holy Spirit Cathedral.
Led by Rev. Father Godwin Fiawoyi, worshippers and activists, including the “Crusaders Against Galamsey,” called for stronger action to protect Ghana’s environment.
Chief Crusader Emmanuel Wilson Jnr highlighted the need for a complete halt to mining activities, beyond the president’s military directive.
The peaceful demonstration, supported by police, is part of ongoing efforts to combat environmental damage caused by galamsey.
