Cedi problem largely caused by speculation – Finance Minister slams Adongo for inciting people

Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has criticized MP Isaac Adongo for allegedly encouraging people to purchase dollars, which he claims undermines the Ghanaian Cedi.

At a July 1 press conference, Dr. Amin Adam accused Adongo of inciting negative sentiment against the appreciating Cedi.

Despite these claims, Dr. Amin Adam reassured the public that the Cedi is improving, attributed to strong leadership and forthcoming IMF loan tranches.

He emphasized economic stability and positive growth indicators, citing a 4.7% GDP growth in Q1 2024, as evidence of economic recovery under the government's policies and IMF support.
