Mr. Anthony Kusi Boafo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Public Sector Reforms has appealed to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop the unnecessary commentary on the impeachment process of Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam. Charlotte Osei indicating that she is matured enough to speak for herself.
According to him, what is currently happening at the EC is an internal matter which has found its way into the public domain by the EC officials themselves hence the NDC must move away from it and allow the due process to take place.
“Charlotte Osei is matured enough, she can speak for herself. She does not need NDC’s help”, he said adding that the NDC members are even worrying her the more with their behavior.
Mr. Kusi Boafo believes the five panel judges are going to be fair in their dealings with the embattled EC Chairperson and her deputies but commended Mrs. Charlotte Osei for conducting a free and fair election during last year’s general elections.
The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Mrs. Charlotte Osei is to answer six allegations leveled against her out of the 27 accusations by some ‘faceless staff’ of the commission.
Mrs. Charlotte Osei is being accused of engaging in alleged fraudulent deals on the blind side of other deputy commissioners’ allegations she has vehemently denied.
Subsequently, an impeachment petition was sent to the president by some faceless EC personnel, of which the president also forwarded to the Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, in pursuant to the Article 1146(3) of the 1992 constitution.
Since the beginning of the impeachment process, some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have chastised the ruling New Patriotic Party as being behind the petitioners.
Abraham Amaliba, a staunch member of the NDC in his latest comment stated that, “Ghana will burn if Mrs. Charlotte Osei is impeached”.
