Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has pledged to address and dismantle corruption within the judiciary.

Acknowledging potential resistance, she urges citizens to reject corrupt practices and recognize their negative impact.

In an interview with Newsfile host Samson Lardy Anyenini, Torkornoo emphasized that combating corruption is a cultural issue that requires national effort.

She highlighted that many corruption incidents stem from social norms and rent-seeking behavior. Torkornoo shared personal experiences illustrating how false claims of judicial influence are common.

She committed to eliminating opportunities for abuse, despite expecting complaints from those benefiting from the status quo.
