President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping and the Chinese people as the country celebrates its 70th anniversary.

“I send warm & sincere congratulations to President Xi Jinping & to the Government & People of China, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. I am confident that Ghana-China relations will continue to blossom in the years ahead,” Nana Akufo-Addo tweeted.

China on Tuesday celebrated 70 years of Communist party rule and its rise to global superpower status with a military parade showcasing the country’s technology.

President Xi Jinping promised that “no force can shake the status of this great nation”.

China’s leaders past and present gathered on a viewing platform over Tiananmen Square to watch the military parade of 15,000 troops and weapons including new hypersonic drones and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

It was followed by a civilian parade, featuring tributes to national icons.

Ghana – China Relations

President Nana Akufo-Addo last year visited China where his counterpart, President Xi Jinping said he was ready to have a working relationship with the Ghanaian leader to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Mr Jinping was hopeful that Ghana-China relationship will “enrich our friendship, take our bonds of cooperation to new heights, and, thereby, deliver greater benefits to our two peoples.”

The two Presidents witnessed the signing of eight agreements to boost their relations principal amongst them was the $2 billion Sino-Sure Framework Agreement, which will enable Sino-Hydro Corporation, a subsidiary of Power China, to finance and participate in major infrastructure, road and railway construction projects.
