A contractor has locked out students and teachers at Tuvugu D/A Primary School in Zabzugu, Northern Region, over an unpaid debt since 2017.

Mohammed Badaru, who built a six-unit classroom block, padlocked the school on September 18, 2024, after not receiving payment from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The lockout has disrupted learning, frustrating staff and students.

While the District Chief Executive, Ahmed Yussif Adarkwa, expressed disappointment in the contractor’s actions, he acknowledged the payment delays.

A temporary solution is being sought, with another local school also facing challenges of inadequate classrooms.
