Coronavirus: Kasena-Nankana Municipal health directorate submits 17 samples for testing

The Kasena-Nankana Municipal Health Directorate in the Upper East Region has collected samples from seventeen people to test for the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Municipal Director of Health Service, Azure Benson Nsoh, who revealed this in his address, as he received some medical suppliers and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) from Charger Limited, manufacturers of HappyMan Bitters and Atadwe Ginger, revealed that results for two out of the seventeen samples, submitted earlier, have been received and are both negative.

He continued that results for the rest of the remaining samples were yet to be received to determine the status of the patients.

“Looking at the coronavirus in the municipality, the staff are doing a lot. So far, we have taken as many as seventeen samples. Some of them are cases that came to the various health facilities in the municipality. Some of them were contacts who were in flights with positive cases, so Accra Immigration Service gave us the names and we have followed these people and we have taken the samples for testing.

For the samples that were submitted earlier on, we have had two feedbacks and they are both negative. Right now, we still have fifteen of the samples to know the status of the patients”. The Health Director revealed.

For the donation, Mr. Azure commended the company for the support. He said the items would go a long way to motivate staff to give off their best in the discharge of duties and renew their commitment towards the fight against the spread of the COVID-19.

He also commended the Traditional Leaders for championing sensitization activities in the area to create awareness and called on all to join the fight against the killer disease.

Bugadam Roland, Head of Media and Communications at Charger Limited, speaking to GhanaWeb’s Upper East Region, Senyalah Castro, said the donation was the company’s contribution to support the health directorate fight the spread of the disease. He said it was also to help prepare health professionals in the Municipality to effectively play their front-line roles.

The Navro-Pio, P3 Denis Asagpaare Balinia Adda ll, who witness the donation, profusely thanked Charger Limited for the kind gesture. He praised the company for responding swiftly to his call for help for health facilities in his Traditional Area.

He was hopeful the items would help the directorate fight the spread of the disease. The Navro-Pio urged other well-meaning sons and daughters of the land, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and companies to support the directorate with their donation to overcome this difficult time.

In all, Charger Limited donated Ghc42,750 worth of PPEs and other medical supplies. The items included, 4 pieces of infrared Gun Thermometers, 5 sets of Digital BP Monitors, 1,000 pieces of Face Masks, 5,000 pieces of Examination gloves and 50 pieces of surgical gowns.

The rest were, 120 pieces of tissue Rolls, 20 ‘Veronica Buckets’, 30 cartons of liquid Soap, 5,000 pieces of Surgical Gloves and 1,000 pieces of Charger Hand Sanitizers.
