Dangerous precedent by MPs could paralyze Parliament – ACEPA

The African Center for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA) has raised concerns about the ongoing parliamentary impasse following the Supreme Court's decision to halt Speaker Bagbin’s ruling on four vacant parliamentary seats.

ACEPA's Executive Director, Rasheed Draman, warned on the Citi Breakfast Show that unchecked conflicts could eventually paralyze legislative business. He criticized some MPs for instigating court challenges against parliamentary decisions, stating this weakens public institutions.

Draman called for a dialogue involving President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Chief Justice to resolve these issues amicably, cautioning that continued disputes could lead to a breakdown of parliamentary operations.
