Ghana’s Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has urged Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to ensure that judges expedite rulings on illegal mining cases, known as 'galamsey,' within a month of their presentation in court.
Speaking at the Association of Magistrates and Judges conference, he highlighted that delays in prosecuting these cases are contributing to environmental destruction in Ghana.
Dame also called on politicians to refrain from supporting galamsey activities and warned against granting amnesty to offenders, stressing the serious risks to citizens' lives and the country's future.
