Don’t ask me about NHIS one-time premium, we’re not in government – Dr Apaak

Responding to a question about the one-time premium NHIS promise by the then NDC government, Dr Apaak stated that he can’t be questioned because Ghanaians voted out the NDC to go and rest.

“If Ghanaians had agreed with us we will be in power; we are not in power. The onus is not on us, you should ask those in government for failing to fulfill their promises” he said.

He noted that the opposition NDC had learnt from their mistakes and last Saturday’s congress was the start of a new NDC ready to wrestle power from the NPP.

“This is the beginning of the effort and the process to change the negative change, which has caused so much hardship for Ghanaians,” he said in an interview with GhanaWeb.

He, however, accused the government of all the job losses that have occurred within the country.



“Not long ago journalists from TV3 and Metro lost serval jobs, the banking sector is in crisis, corruption is awash, the President has become a clearing agent, is that the type of promises the NPP made and you to question me and my NDC for doing my best in opposition” he quizzed.

“In the history of this Republic, no government has ever appointed even a 100 ministers, we have 110 ministers, we complained about the impact of this on the public purse then the President spat in our faces by adding another minister. Today as we speak Ghana has the most obese government” Dr Apaak said with disappointment.

The former Presidential staffer in the erstwhile Mahama’s government said there are over 1000 presidential staffers under Akufo-Addo’s presidency.

“The Ghana we have today is not a Ghana that believes in prosperity for all. This is a government that believes in prosperity for family, friends, girlfriends and concubines” he stressed.
