Don’t be like the 'foolish virgins' – Senyo Hosi to University students

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors ( CBOD) Senyo Hosi has enjoined graduates to endeavour to prepare themselves for the world of work or risk being denied the opportunity to work.

Using the parable of the virgins in the Bible as an example of how graduates could remain unemployed after university, he explained that graduates must go the extra mile to equip themselves for the work of work and discard the notion that industry or employer will prepare them for work.

Mr Hosi was speaking on the theme: “Preparing Graduates for the World of Work: The Role of Universities” at the University of Cape Coast earlier this month.

“The competitive nature of today’s world has no time for the unprepared. Organisations realise this and ought to minimize their training costs and time without compromising quality where possible. One will therefore be likened to the foolish virgin if one thinks that preparation is the burden of industry.

As with the case in the parable, the door to work will be shut to the unprepared,” he declared.

The parable of the virgins talks about some virgins who missed out on seeing the groom because oil to light their lamps ran out and because they carried no additional oil, they could not meet with the groom.
